Iron Thunder: The Battle Between the Monitor and the Merrimac

Great Read: Iron Thunder
Iron Thunder: The Battle Between the Monitor and the Merrimac (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition)
Iron Thunder (2009)
Wortis, Avi
Historical Fiction
I would give it a 4/5
Well this book starts around a young 13 year old who is hired to help on a secret project. Which is to be an assistant of the Monitors inventer. Which makes him a target for Confederate spies who will try to bribe him for information and he and his family need money bad.

A big theme in this book is Loyalty. Because this 13 year old who's family needs a lot of money but dosn't give information for a lot of it.

Iron Thunder is a realistic novel about a young boy who's dad died to the Confederate's. This book gives a good perspective of how life might feel like in that position.

This book is for 8+ year olds and up.

I would recomend this book to any 1 that is intrested

I read this book for an assignment in school. I thought it was great and I liked it a lot. It was a quick read but none the less I liked it.

Publishers Weekly:
“The spectacular clash with the Merrimac caps this intense and action-packed account of a battle that changed the course of naval warfare. Illustrated with period engravings, this is gripping historical fiction from a keenly imagined perspective."
